The highlight of Apple's iPhone 4S announcement was the Dual Core A5 processor which is promised to be 2x faster than the previous iPhone. The impressive iOS5 and Siri were the talking points as well. One notable point though, is that the physical design of the 4S is the same as the 4. So what does that mean for the battery life for the iPhone 4S?
Zzzzzzzzz, is what most people's battery's do by the time its 5pm. The average smartphone can't even get through the day. Remember when your old Nokia 3310 used to last you for weeks without recharging?
The battery capacity and performance is one of the most important things to consider when buying a phone; if the battery fails to perform well, mobile users find themselves "naked" without a functioning phone in the middle of nowhere.
Apple has faced both criticism and praise for its battery designs in its i Products. The enclosed, sealed nature of the device means that users cant swap out the battery for a new one when their phone or tablet dies. The advantage of this sealed design is that the phones have a much more unique and slim design, and allows Apple to make more efficient designs in a smaller package.
On paper, the iPhone 4S has about twice the power and performance, but at what cost? Siri, iOS5 and the dual core processor are all expected to put an extra load on the iPhone’s
battery. The iPhone 4S actually has lower quoted standby and video playback times as compared to the original iPhone 4. Zzzzzzzzz, is what most people's battery's do by the time its 5pm. I guess we'll just have to wait until the phone gets out in the wild so actual users can test the battery life, as we all know that the paper quoted times are never true.
