When we look at the range of smartphones available we are
moving away from all the brands that we grew up with such as Nokia & Motorola
and moving into this dimension where we find HTC, Samsung, Apple & Google
Phones which were never around 10-20 years ago. How did they emerge and become
such a big part of our lives in such little time. Here’s HTC’s story:
HTC was founded in 1997 by Cher Wang, the company started
off by utilising Microsoft Windows Operating System but we saw the shift in
early 2009 when they moved on to using Android OS. The first phone that was
released by HTC was the HTC dream, marketed mainly through T-Mobile, & it
was also the first phone to use the Android software on this platform.
HTC started off by
developing notebook computers and then saw to move to wireless hand-held
devices from 1998 onwards. Along with being the first phone to use the android
software HTC created the first Microsoft powered smartphone in 2002 and the
first Microsoft 3G phone in 2005. Apples attempt to file a compliant towards
HTC failed as they knocked back the claim that Apple accused them of. As of June 2010, HTC launched the HTC Evo 4G, the
first 4G capable phone in the States.
So from what we can see HTC has
been a company of many first’s and we hope to see many more from them!
